Abstract:
Resveratrol is a compound found abundantly in grapes' skin and red wine. It has recently become an increasingly popular ingredient of cosmeceuticals due to its reported anti-aging properties and inhibiting effects on melanogenesis. When compared to synthetic chemicals, natural ingredients, such as resveratrol, are often less expensive to produce and more widely available, which make them an attractive additive to skincare formulations. As resveratrol continues to gain commercial popularity, we reviewed the current literature regarding its background, biochemical mechanisms, and clinical data.
