Renal artery pseudoaneurysms post percutaneous nephrolithotomy: A case report.

A rare complication of kidney stone removal surgery (Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy) is a pseudoaneurysm, an abnormal bulge in a blood vessel. This case study highlights successful endovascular embolization to treat this vascular injury, preserving kidney function.

Background:

- Iatrogenic Renal Vascular Injuries, including pseudoaneurysms (1-3%), are known risks of PCNL.

Observation:
- A 49-year-old male presented with hematuria following PCNL.
- Computed tomography renal angiography revealed a pseudoaneurysm in the lower pole of the left kidney.
- Digital subtraction angiography confirmed the diagnosis.
Findings:
- Super selective endovascular embolization was successfully performed.
- The procedure preserved the remaining vascularization of the kidney.
- No postoperative complications were observed.
Implications:
- Endovascular embolization is an effective treatment for post-PCNL pseudoaneurysms.
- This minimally invasive approach can successfully manage renal vascular injuries.
- Preserving kidney vascularization is crucial for optimal patient outcomes.
