[Basic mechanism of the histotoxic action of chelating agents]
Abstract:
Chelant injections in animals cause intravital histochemical reactions with zinc thus deranging this metal metabolism and disturbing the cellular structure with subsequent changes in the main histochemical components. The degree of alterations depends on the intensity and persistence of the intravital reaction. The basic mechanism of the chevant histotoxic action consists in the damage it produces in the mechanical structure of the cells.
