Quantifying Work02:30

Quantifying Work

22.0K
As a system undergoes a change, its internal energy can change, and energy can be transferred from the system to the surroundings, or from the surroundings to the system.

Current Trends in Nursing II

1.4K
Trends in nursing are multifactorial and associated with changes in society, within the nursing profession, and in other professions. Notably, telehealth and remote nursing contribute to successful healthcare delivery for numerous patients and help reduce stress for nurses due to nursing shortages. Nurses can reach patients, monitor their conditions, and interact with them using computers, audio, visual accessories, and telephones—for example, remote patient monitoring systems. Likewise,...

Virtual Work01:20

Virtual Work

984
The principle of virtual work states that if a body is in static and dynamic equilibrium, then the sum of all the virtual work done by all external forces and couple moments for any given virtual displacement must be zero.
In static equilibrium, a body can experience an imaginary or virtual movement, such as displacement or rotation. The virtual work done by a force is equal to the dot product of force and virtual displacement in the direction of the force. When it comes to virtually rotating a...

Cross-Sectional Research01:50

Cross-Sectional Research

11.9K
In cross-sectional research, a researcher compares multiple segments of the population at the same time. If they were interested in people's dietary habits, the researcher might directly compare different groups of people by age. Instead of following a group of people for 20 years to see how their dietary habits changed from decade to decade, the researcher would study a group of 20-year-old individuals and compare them to a group of 30-year-old individuals and a group of 40-year-old...

Social Loafing01:37

Social Loafing

36.5K
Another way in which a group presence can affect performance is social loafing—the exertion of less effort by a person working together with a group. Social loafing occurs when our individual performance cannot be evaluated separately from the group. Thus, group performance declines on easy tasks (Karau & Williams, 1993). Essentially individual group members loaf and let other group members pick up the slack. Because each individual’s efforts cannot be evaluated,...

Psychology as a Science01:13

Psychology as a Science

2.6K
Psychology, as a scientific discipline, aims to understand the mind and behavior through rigorous and systematic methods. The foundation of psychological research is evidence-based, relying heavily on the scientific method to derive and validate knowledge. This structured approach ensures that findings are reliable, valid, and applicable to broader contexts.
The scientific method in psychology involves six critical steps: making observations, formulating hypotheses, conducting tests, analyzing...

Area of Science:

  • Bibliometrics
  • Scientific Mapping
  • Remote Work Studies

Background:

  • The COVID-19 pandemic necessitated a rapid shift to remote work for many organizations.
  • This transition prompted significant academic interest and analysis in the literature.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To conduct a scientific mapping of remote work literature from 2020-2021.
  • To identify prominent and emerging themes, particularly
  • motor themes
  • influenced by the pandemic.

Main Methods:

  • Systematic literature search on the Web of Science database.
  • Analysis of 186 selected articles using Scimat software.
  • Examination of journal and reference data.

Main Results:

  • Job satisfaction and flexible work were identified as significant
  • motor themes
  • based on centrality and density indexes.
  • Stress was also confirmed as a
  • motor theme
  • despite initially appearing less prominent in density analysis.

Conclusions:

  • Job satisfaction, flexible work, and stress represent the most developed and critical sub-themes in remote work research.
  • New researchers should focus on these areas, and managers should prioritize them due to their established importance in the literature.
