Development and prospective study of an Anatomical Index and an Acute Trauma Index

The development of two indices which can be used to characterize the acutely injured patient is presented. Evidence in support of the concept of characterizing injuries by the combined use of tissue disruption information and physiologic and biochemical response information is examined.
