In short cephalomedullary nail (CMN) fixation for intertrochanteric fractures, a smaller nail-to-canal ratio and shorter tip-apex distance (TAD) increase the risk of nail toggle. Increased nail toggle correlates with greater varus collapse, compromising fracture stability.
