    Background:

    • This study focuses on COVID-19 vaccine coverage among individuals with diverse immigration and country backgrounds in Norway.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate COVID-19 vaccination coverage rates among persons with various immigration and country backgrounds in Norway.
    • To identify disparities in vaccine uptake based on immigrant and country of origin.
    • To explore potential socio-economic factors associated with these vaccination differences.

    Main Methods:

    • Utilized data from the Beredt C19 register, including all residents over 18 in Norway.
    • Employed logistic regression models to analyze the association between vaccine status and immigrant/country background.
    • Adjusted for key covariates: income, education, sex, age, medical risk group, and place of residence.

    Main Results:

    • Foreign-born individuals and those with foreign-born parents exhibited lower COVID-19 vaccine coverage compared to Norwegian-born individuals with Norwegian-born parents.
    • Vaccination coverage ranged from approximately 45% for individuals from Latvia, Bulgaria, Poland, Romania, and Lithuania to 92% for those from Vietnam, Thailand, and Sri Lanka.
    • Individuals from the lower-coverage groups had significantly higher odds of being unvaccinated (8-11 times adjusted) compared to those with a Norwegian country background.

    Conclusions:

    • Significant variations in COVID-19 vaccine coverage exist between different immigrant groups in Norway.
    • While income and education partially explain some differences, they do not account for the majority of the observed disparities.
    • Potential weaknesses in data registers may also contribute to the observed variations in vaccine coverage.
