  • To investigate neural correlates of negative emotion processing in adolescents with SD compared to healthy controls (HCs).
  • To examine functional connectivity alterations in SD.

  • Task-based functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) using a passive viewing paradigm (negative vs. masked conditions).
  • Analysis of Blood oxygenation level-dependent (BOLD) responses and functional connectivity in 42 SD and 32 HC adolescents.

  • Reduced brain activation in the superior frontal gyrus (SFG), middle frontal gyrus, and middle cingulate gyrus in SD compared to HCs.

Conclusions:
