    Summary

    A rare cardiac tumor, left ventricular rhabdomyoma, caused unusual outflow tract obstruction. Echocardiography enabled diagnosis, and surgical removal via the aortic root was successful.

    Background:

    • Left ventricular outflow tract (LVOT) obstruction can arise from various causes.
    • Rhabdomyomas are the most common primary cardiac tumors in infants and children, but are rare in adults.

    Observation:

    • A solitary pedunculated left ventricular rhabdomyoma was identified as the cause of an unusual LVOT obstruction.
    • Diagnosis was achieved solely through two-dimensional echocardiography.

    Findings:

    • The obstructive rhabdomyoma was successfully resected from the interventricular septum.
    • The surgical approach utilized the aortic root for tumor removal.

    Implications:

    • This case highlights the diagnostic utility of echocardiography for cardiac tumors causing LVOT obstruction.
    • Successful surgical management of LVOT obstruction due to rhabdomyoma is feasible.
    • Presents a rare adult case of LVOT obstruction by a pedunculated left ventricular rhabdomyoma.
