Nocturnal enuresis (bedwetting) is common in children with sickle cell disease (SCD). Early kidney hyperfiltration did not predict bedwetting, but severe SCD genotypes and male sex did. - Severe SCD genotypes and male sex are associated with nocturnal enuresis in children over age 5.
- Future research should explore non-renal risk factors to better predict the development of enuresis in this population.
