    Area of Science:

    • Gastroenterology
    • Oncology
    • Pathology

    Background:

    • Nongestational choriocarcinoma is a rare malignancy typically found in the ovaries or testes.
    • Extragenital choriocarcinoma is exceptionally rare, with few documented cases outside of the reproductive organs.

    Observation:

    • A 29-year-old woman presented with a duodenal tumor.
    • The tumor was histopathologically identified as choriocarcinoma.

    Findings:

    • Immunohistochemical staining revealed positivity for human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG).
    • Stains also confirmed the presence of human placental lactogen (hPL).
    • These markers are indicative of trophoblastic differentiation.

    Implications:

    • This case expands the known spectrum of extragenital choriocarcinoma locations.
    • The findings highlight the importance of considering rare diagnoses in gastrointestinal oncology.
    • Further research may elucidate the specific pathogenesis of duodenal choriocarcinoma.
