Abstract:
Retraction: "Resistin effects on pancreatic cancer progression and chemoresistance are mediated through its receptors CAP1 and TLR4," by Min Zhang, Li Yan, Gui-Jie Wang, and Ronghui Jin, J Cell Physiol. 2019, 9457-9466. The above article, published online on 14 October 2018 in Wiley Online Library (https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/jcp.27631) has been retracted by agreement between the authors, the journal's Editor in Chief, Prof. Dr. Gregg Fields, and Wiley Periodicals LLC. The authors asked for a retraction and stated that unintentional errors occurred during the research process, so that the experimental results cannot be verified. Thus, the conclusions are considered to be invalid. The authors were not available to approve the retraction text after the investigation was concluded.
Insights
This study on resistin's role in pancreatic cancer has been retracted due to unintentional research errors. The findings regarding resistin, CAP1, and TLR4 in cancer progression and chemoresistance are now considered invalid.
Area of Science:
- Oncology
- Molecular Biology
- Cell Biology
Context:
- Pancreatic cancer is a leading cause of cancer-related mortality.
- Understanding the molecular mechanisms driving pancreatic cancer progression and chemoresistance is crucial for developing effective therapies.
Purpose:
- To investigate the role of resistin and its receptors, CAP1 and TLR4, in pancreatic cancer progression and chemoresistance.
Summary:
- The article "Resistin effects on pancreatic cancer progression and chemoresistance are mediated through its receptors CAP1 and TLR4" has been retracted.
- The retraction was requested by the authors due to unintentional errors during the research process.
- Consequently, the experimental results cannot be verified, and the conclusions are deemed invalid.
Impact:
- The retraction invalidates previous findings on resistin's mechanism in pancreatic cancer.
- This necessitates a re-evaluation of resistin's potential as a therapeutic target or biomarker in pancreatic cancer.

Somatic Spinal Reflexes
One of the most well-known somatic spinal reflexes is the stretch reflex, which is activated by the sudden stretching of a muscle. This reflex involves the activation of specialized sensory receptors called muscle spindles, which are located in the muscle tissue and detect changes in the length and speed of muscle contractions. When a muscle is suddenly...

Relaxation of Skeletal Muscles
When an action potential reaches the axon terminal, it depolarizes the membrane and opens voltage-gated sodium channels. Sodium ions enter the cell, further depolarizing the presynaptic membrane. This depolarization causes voltage-gated calcium channels to open....
