Nursing Evaluation

The evaluation stage signals the end of the nursing process. The nurse gathers evaluative data to assess whether or not the patient has attained the expected results. Whereas the nurse collects data in the nursing assessment to identify the patient's health concerns, the evaluation stage data determines if the indicated health issues are resolved. Summary

A new evaluation model for maternity health programs (MHP) was developed to enhance primary health care (PHC) services. This comprehensive model, featuring 32 standards, aims to improve the quality of maternity care delivery in Iran.

Background:

Maternity care is a critical component of primary health care (PHC) globally.
Existing maternity health program (MHP) evaluation systems in Iran have shortcomings.
This study addresses the need for a robust MHP evaluation framework.

Purpose of the Study:

To develop a new, comprehensive model for evaluating the maternity health program (MHP) in Iran.
To identify and address challenges within current MHP evaluation systems.
To establish evidence-based standards for evaluating maternity care within PHC.

Main Methods:

A mixed-methods approach was employed, integrating systematic reviews and expert interviews.
SWOT analysis, cross-sectional studies, and comparative analyses were used to identify MHP evaluation shortcomings.
The Delphi technique facilitated consensus on the developed evaluation standards.

Main Results:

A novel evaluation model for MHPs was created, comprising five dimensions: reproductive health/family planning, maternity health, health records, evaluation, and resource management.
The model includes 32 standards and 289 measures.
High scores for importance (91.55%) and applicability (87.22%) indicate the model's practical value.

Conclusions:

The developed MHP evaluation model is comprehensive and designed for performance improvement.
Implementation of this model is expected to enhance the quality of maternity health services within PHC centers.
This research provides a framework for optimizing maternity care evaluation in similar healthcare settings.
