Summary

This study introduces a new double-eyelid surgery technique combining arcade buried suture and forceps. The method effectively creates natural-looking double eyelids with high patient satisfaction and no serious complications.

Background:

  • Double-eyelid blepharoplasty is a popular cosmetic procedure in Taiwan.
  • It aims to create a palpebral fold, reduce eyelid fullness, and enhance youthful appearance.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To present a novel surgical technique for double-eyelid creation.
  • To evaluate the efficacy and safety of combining arcade buried suture and forceps techniques.

Main Methods:

  • Retrospective review of 45 patients (ages 18-38) who underwent the procedure between December 2015 and December 2019.
  • Surgery performed by a single senior surgeon using arcade suture upper blepharoplasty with the forceps technique.

Main Results:

  • No patients experienced complications such as stitch abscess, granuloma, asymmetry, or corneal injury.
  • High patient satisfaction reported with a mean follow-up of 32 months.

Conclusions:

  • The combined arcade suture and forceps technique is a simple and effective method for durable double eyelid creation.
  • The procedure yields excellent results with a low complication rate.
