Abstract:
This special issue was inspired by a desire to shine a light on new ways to think about stress and trauma through resilience, perseverance, and posttraumatic growth. Difficult times help individuals and communities develop, create, and evaluate opportunities to grow and become resilient. Articles range from youth to adulthood, including at-risk populations and multicultural considerations. Moreover, articles speak to protective factors that influence resilience in adults, as well as potential mechanisms that promote posttraumatic growth. As trauma is a common experience in human life, it is incumbent on us to learn how to mobilize internal and external resources to overcome adversity and live psychologically healthy lives.
