    Background:

    • Central venous access is crucial for patient care.
    • Assessing central line/shunt patency and venous obstruction is vital.
    • Conventional venography can be time-consuming and costly.

    Observation:

    • Thirty-five patients underwent central venous digital subtraction venography (DSV).
    • DSV was used to evaluate central line/shunt patency in 13 patients.
    • DSV assessed central venous obstruction in 22 patients.

    Findings:

    • All DSV examinations were easily performed, yielding diagnostic images.
    • No conventional venographic supplementation was required.
    • DSV demonstrated superior contrast resolution and flexible image display.

    Implications:

    • DSV offers significant advantages over conventional venography.
    • Benefits include time and cost savings.
    • Reduced contrast agent dosage and enhanced imaging flexibility are key advantages.
