Self-report inventories are objective personality assessments that use multiple-choice items or numbered scales, typically ranging from 1 (strongly disagree) to 5 (strongly agree).   • To develop and psychometrically test the Nurses' Professional Commitment Inventory (NPCI).
  • To provide a reliable and valid measure of nurses' professional commitment.

  • Exploratory factor analysis and reliability testing (test-retest, internal consistency) on 272 clinical nurses.

  • These factors explained 53.92% of the variance in professional commitment.

  • The NPCI demonstrates acceptable validity and reliability for measuring nurses' professional commitment.
  • The inventory's dimensions reflect key aspects of professional commitment formation.
  • NPCI can identify nurses' strengths and weaknesses regarding professional commitment.
