    Summary

    Ultrasonography accurately identified appendicitis in most patients, detecting inflamed appendices as echo-poor lesions. This imaging technique shows promise for diagnosing acute appendicitis and guiding treatment decisions.

    Background:

    • Appendicitis is a common surgical emergency.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of ultrasonography in suspected cases of acute appendicitis.
    • To characterize the ultrasonic findings associated with inflamed and perforated appendices.

    • Prospective study involving 46 patients undergoing appendicectomy.
