Background:

Prostate cancer can become resistant to standard hormone-blocking therapies, leading to castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC).
New treatment strategies are needed for patients with CRPC, particularly those who are asymptomatic.

Purpose of the Study:

To evaluate the safety and efficacy of Bipolar Androgen Therapy (BAT) in asymptomatic men with metastatic CRPC.
To provide accessible information about BAT for patients, families, and physicians to aid treatment decisions.

Main Methods:

A series of clinical studies were conducted over a decade.
BAT was administered to asymptomatic patients with metastatic CRPC.

Main Results:

BAT was safely administered to patients with metastatic CRPC.
No symptomatic disease progression was observed.
Sustained prostate-specific antigen (PSA) and objective responses were seen in 30%-40% of patients.
BAT resensitized patients to subsequent antiandrogen therapy, prolonging response.

Conclusions:

Bipolar androgen therapy is a safe and potentially effective treatment for asymptomatic metastatic CRPC.
BAT can achieve significant patient responses and improve outcomes with subsequent therapies.
