    Summary

    Water immersion causes significant natriuresis and diuresis by increasing blood volume. While sympatho-adrenal activity decreases, this reduction isn't directly linked to the kidney response.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the renal and hormonal effects of thermoneutral water immersion.
    • To determine the role of sympatho-adrenal activity in immersion-induced diuresis and natriuresis.

    • Ten healthy subjects underwent thermoneutral neck-out water immersion.
    • Plasma levels of noradrenaline, adrenaline, and dopamine were measured.
    • Diuresis and natriuresis were quantified.

    • Water immersion induced significant diuresis and natriuresis, indicating central hypervolemia.
