Summary

Physicians overwhelmingly prefer the new Standardized Computer-based Organized Reporting of EEG (SCORE) format over traditional free-text reports. This standardized electroencephalogram (EEG) reporting system shows high user acceptability and is recommended for broader adoption.

Background:

  • Traditional electroencephalogram (EEG) reports use variable free-text formats.
  • The International Federation of Clinical Neurophysiology (IFCN) developed the Standardized Computer-based Organized Reporting of EEG (SCORE) system.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To assess end-user acceptability of the SCORE format for EEG reports.
  • To compare physician preferences between standardized and free-text EEG reporting.

Main Methods:

  • A 16-item electronic survey was distributed to physicians using EEG services.
  • The survey evaluated information, preferences, comparative aspects, clinical impact, and satisfaction with the SCORE format.
  • Physicians had prior experience with free-text EEG reports before the transition to SCORE.
