Ascending Aortic Thrombus After SARS-CoV-2 Infection

A recent SARS-CoV-2 infection may increase the risk of aortic thrombus formation, leading to kidney infarction. Anticoagulation therapy effectively resolved the aortic thrombus in this case.

- The ascending aortic thrombus was attributed to a transient hypercoagulable state induced by SARS-CoV-2 infection, exacerbated by tobacco use.
- Medical management with six months of anticoagulation was initiated.
- Follow-up imaging after three months demonstrated complete resolution of the ascending aortic thrombus.

- This case highlights a potential link between SARS-CoV-2 infection and aortic thrombus formation.
- Anticoagulation therapy appears effective in resolving aortic thrombi in this context.
- Further research is warranted to elucidate the mechanisms and long-term implications of post-COVID-19 aortic thrombosis.
