On-line separation/analysis of Rhodamine B dye based on a solid-phase extraction high performance liquid
1College of Chemistry & Chemical Engineering, Yangzhou University Yangzhou 225002 PR China.
A novel solid-phase extraction method using poly-1-vinyl-3-pentylimidazole hexafluorophosphate (PILs-C5) and HPLC offers sensitive Rhodamine B dye detection. This technique provides accurate analysis in various real-world samples.
Area of Science:
- Analytical Chemistry
- Materials Science
Background:
- Rhodamine B (RhB) is a widely used dye with potential environmental and health concerns.
- Accurate and sensitive detection methods for RhB are crucial for environmental monitoring and quality control.
Purpose of the Study:
- To develop a novel on-line solid-phase extraction (SPE) coupled with high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method for Rhodamine B (RhB) dye analysis.
- To utilize a self-designed device based on poly-1-vinyl-3-pentylimidazole hexafluorophosphate (PILs-C5) for RhB separation and detection.
Main Methods:
- Optimization of experimental parameters including pH, PILs-C5 amount, sample volume, and eluent conditions using single factor and orthogonal designs.
- On-line solid-phase extraction (SPE) using PILs-C5 material.
- High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) for separation and detection of RhB.
Main Results:
- Achieved a linear range of 0.02-2.4 μg mL⁻¹ with a high correlation coefficient (R² = 0.997).
- Obtained a low limit of detection (LOD) of 0.004 μg mL⁻¹ and limit of quantification (LOQ) of 0.02 μg mL⁻¹.
- Demonstrated a high extraction capacity (6.22 mg g⁻¹) and enrichment ratio (15) for RhB.
Conclusions:
- The developed PILs-C5 based on-line SPE-HPLC method is highly effective for sensitive and accurate Rhodamine B dye determination.
- The method shows excellent performance and applicability for analyzing RhB in diverse real-world samples.
