Chikungunya virus infection triggers inflammation and joint pain. This study shows increased Indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase 1 (IDO-1) activity early in infection, potentially fighting the virus and controlling inflammation, with CCL4/MIP-1β linked to chronic arthritis.
