Background:

Healthcare is moving towards person-centered models, yet individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) face challenges accessing equitable care.
Humanizing principles like empathy and respect are crucial for ensuring equitable treatment and support for people with IDD.

Purpose of the Study:

To conduct a scoping review of research on interventions utilizing humanizing principles for improving health and social care for people with IDD.
To identify current research landscapes and knowledge gaps in this area.

Main Methods:

Utilizing PRISMA-ScR and PICOS frameworks for review structure.
Searching 6 databases for English articles from the past 10 years focusing on interventions in health care, social care, and informal social support for people with IDD.
Employing two reviewers for screening, selection, and data extraction, followed by descriptive analysis.

Main Results:

The review will summarize findings from studies on interventions incorporating empathy, compassion, dignity, and respect.
Expected completion and submission for publication by January 2023.

Conclusions:

The scoping review will provide a comprehensive summary of the current state of interventions aimed at enhancing health and social care for adults with IDD through humanizing principles.
