Summary

Children's fluoride toothpastes should have at least 1000 ppm soluble fluoride for cavity prevention. Our study found some products in Brazil and Mexico had lower soluble fluoride levels than recommended, despite regulations.

    • Existing regulations in Brazil and Mexico permit the sale of products not fully aligned with scientific evidence on soluble fluoride efficacy.
    • Recommendations for regulatory review and enhanced quality control are suggested to ensure children's oral health protection.
