[Regulation of the replication of bacterial plasmids]
Abstract:
This is a survey of the available data on the structure of the replication apparatus and the control mechanisms of bacterial plasmids replication. All plasmids are classified as having three types of replicons according to the mechanisms of replication initiation. The role of plasmid--determined positive and negative regulatory elements involved in controlling the number of copies and incompatibility is discussed.
