Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate clinicopathological factors and survival outcomes in trunk melanoma patients.
  • To identify differences in outcomes among various anatomical areas of the trunk.

Main Methods:

  • Retrospective analysis of 491 trunk melanoma cases.
  • Evaluation of clinicopathological factors and survival rates.

Main Results:

  • The 5-year overall survival rate for all trunk melanoma patients was 61.1%.
  • No significant differences in survival rates were observed between chest, abdominal, dorsal, lumbar, and gluteal melanoma sites (p > 0.05).
  • Unfavorable prognostic factors including sex, histology, Clark level, Breslow depth, mitotic rate, ulceration, lymphovascular invasion, BRAF mutation, lymph node positivity, metastasis, and relapse were significantly associated with overall survival.

Conclusions:

  • Trunk melanomas frequently exhibit aggressive pathological and clinical characteristics.
  • These aggressive features predict unfavorable survival outcomes, irrespective of the specific anatomical site on the trunk.
