Summary

An intrauterine device (IUD) migrated to the bladder, causing urinary symptoms. This rare complication was successfully treated with hysteroscopy and cystoscopy, removing the ectopic IUD and bladder stones.

  • Imaging revealed an abnormally positioned IUD protruding into the bladder, with stones on its surface.
  • Hysteroscopy confirmed an embedded V-type IUD arm in the cervical canal.

Findings:

  • Cystoscopy identified a metallic foreign body (IUD) with calculus formation in the bladder.
  • Holmium laser lithotripsy was used to break bladder stones.
  • The ectopic IUD was successfully removed via hysteroscopy.

Implications:

  • Thorough imaging is crucial for diagnosing ectopic IUDs in the bladder.
  • Cystoscopy and hysteroscopy offer safe and effective treatment options.
