[Late results in the surgical treatment of valvular defects]
Abstract:
Clinical analysis was performed of 112 operated patients with valvular heart defect, from 1 to 24 years. The mean duration of the first rheumatic paroxysm is 19.7 years and of the valvular heart defect--25.3 years, of the operation--35.8 years. The age at the time of inquiry during 1973 was 48 years, the mean age of advancing of death--48.3 years. The mean age of appearance of restenosis is 49.6 years and mean age of re-operation--40.3 years. One third of the patients go to work, 50% of them being inactive age, 19.4% survive the surgical; intervention from 1 to 5 years, 15.2%--from 6 to 10 years, 26%--from 13 to 15 years, 25%--from 16 to 20 years and 14.1%--over 20 years.
