Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate serum laminin (LN) levels in AHF patients before and after hospitalization.
  • To explore the association between laminin levels and clinical parameters in AHF.

Main Methods:

  • Serum LN levels were measured in 112 AHF patients and 137 controls (NYHA classes I-II).
  • AHF patients had LN levels measured at admission and 1 week post-admission.
  • Bivariate linear correlation analysis was used to assess associations.

Main Results:

  • AHF patients exhibited significantly higher baseline LN levels compared to controls (P < 0.001).
  • LN levels decreased significantly in AHF patients after 1 week of treatment (P < 0.001).
  • LN levels correlated with NT-proBNP and were higher in AHF patients with atrial fibrillation (AF).

Conclusions:

  • Decreasing serum laminin levels may indicate improved cardiac function in AHF patients.
  • Laminin may serve as a biomarker for myocardial fibrosis in AHF.
  • Further research is needed to elucidate laminin's precise role in AHF progression and management.
