Background:

Tuberculosis (TB) is a significant global health concern, primarily affecting the lungs but capable of extrapulmonary spread.
Extrapulmonary TB can present in various forms, including vertebral osteomyelitis, commonly known as Pott's Disease.
Allogenic bone grafts are utilized in orthopedic surgery to facilitate bone healing and structural support.

Observation:

A patient developed Pott's Disease following back surgery involving an allogenic bone graft.
Subsequent investigations revealed disseminated tuberculosis originating from the infected bone graft.
This case underscores a rare but serious complication associated with allograft transplantation.

Findings:

The infected bone graft served as the source of disseminated tuberculosis in the patient.
Current screening protocols for allograft tissue may not adequately identify all risks of TB transmission.
The case highlights a potential gap in infectious disease surveillance for tissue allografts.

Implications:

There is a potential need to re-evaluate and potentially standardize tuberculosis screening for bone allografts.
Enhanced vigilance and screening protocols could prevent rare but severe infectious complications post-transplantation.
This case contributes to the understanding of TB transmission routes and informs future public health strategies for tissue banking and transplantation.
