    Purpose of the Study:

    • To determine the prevalence of pregnancies among school-going adolescent girls in Conakry, Guinea.
    • To identify demographic and socioeconomic factors associated with teenage pregnancies within the school environment.

    Main Methods:

    • A cross-sectional study was conducted between January 1 and June 30, 2017, involving 2,419 adolescent girls across 16 schools.
    • Data collected included participant demographics, school level, residence, marital status, and knowledge of reproductive health and family planning.

    Main Results:

    • The mean age of participants was 16.48 years. Pregnancies were most common among girls aged 15-19 (93.0%), in college (53.3%), and single (69.8%).
    • Significant factors associated with pregnancy included older age, certain residential areas, single marital status, limited knowledge of reproductive health and family planning benefits, and difficulties accessing sexual and reproductive health services.

    Conclusions:

    • School pregnancies remain a critical concern for adolescent girls in Guinea.
    • Interventions should address age, socioeconomic factors, educational level, and improve access to comprehensive sexual and reproductive health information and services.
