Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the relationship between platelet miRNA expression levels and severe pneumonia in children.
  • To explore the correlation between specific platelet miRNAs (miR-223 and miR-192) and coagulation function parameters in pediatric SP.

Main Methods:

  • A randomized controlled trial involving 129 children hospitalized with SP and 129 healthy controls.
  • Detection of platelet miR-223 and miR-192 expression using real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR).
  • Assessment of coagulation function parameters: prothrombin time (PT), activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT), and fibrinogen (FIB).

Conclusions:

  • Platelet miR-223 and miR-192 levels serve as potential biomarkers reflecting coagulation function in children with severe pneumonia.
  • These miRNAs can provide a valuable reference for clinical guidance, treatment strategies, and prognosis assessment in pediatric SP.
