Summary

Soluble fms-like tyrosine kinase-1 (sFlt-1) shows promise in predicting pregnancy termination timing for preeclampsia (PE) patients. Further research is needed due to the small sample size, but sFlt-1 may help optimize delivery timing and reduce maternal complications.

Background:

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the utility of PlGF and sFlt-1 in predicting the time to pregnancy termination in women with preeclampsia.
  • To establish cutoff values for these markers to predict delivery within 24 hours and within 1 week.

Main Methods:

  • A cohort of 44 pregnant women diagnosed with PE (gestational age 22 0/7 to 33 6/7 weeks) was studied.
  • Levels of sFlt-1, PlGF, and the sFlt-1/PlGF ratio were measured.

  • Future studies should aim to validate these findings for optimizing PE management and reducing maternal morbidity.
