Summary

Recurrent multiple cerebral hydatidosis, a rare condition, was observed in a young woman seven years post-surgery. Complete cyst excision and medical therapy led to a good recovery, highlighting the importance of vigilance for this parasitic infection.

  • Recurrent multiple cerebral hydatid cysts were identified in the left parieto-occipital region via CT scan, showing calcifications.

Findings:

  • Diagnosis of cerebral hydatidosis was presumed based on clinical presentation and imaging.
  • Surgical excision of cysts followed by medical treatment confirmed the diagnosis parasitologically and histologically.
  • A transient neurological deficit was the sole postoperative complication, improving with early rehabilitation.

Implications:

  • This case underscores the possibility of recurrent multiple cerebral hydatidosis even after initial treatment.
  • Complete surgical resection and appropriate medical management are crucial for favorable outcomes.
  • Early detection and intervention are vital for managing this rare neurological parasitic disease.
