Two fibromyalgia pain measurement methods, phasic and tonic temporal summation, showed no correlation and may reflect different neural responses in patients. Further research is needed to determine if these pain modulation markers can phenotype fibromyalgia.

- Phasic and tonic TS protocols may represent distinct neural responses in FM.
- These protocols, using heat stimuli at pain-60 temperatures, are not correlated in FM.
- Larger studies are required to determine if these TS measures can differentiate FM phenotypes.
