    Background:

    • Edentulous posterior maxilla presents significant challenges for dental implant placement due to anatomical limitations, particularly the maxillary sinus.
    • Sinus floor elevation is a common prerequisite for achieving adequate bone height in the posterior maxilla.
    • Traditional sinus augmentation techniques can be time-consuming and may require separate surgical stages.

    Observation:

    • A 37-year-old female patient with a posterior maxillary ridge defect and missing teeth (FDI 26, 27) was treated.
    • The treatment involved extraction of tooth 25, periodontal regeneration, and simultaneous maxillary sinus elevation using the bone ring technique with immediate implant placement.
    • The bone ring technique utilizes a bone graft harvested from the sinus floor to augment the ridge.

    Findings:

    • The bone ring technique successfully facilitated maxillary sinus elevation and bone augmentation.
    • Immediate implant placement was achieved in the augmented bone.
    • At the 1-year follow-up, stable bone tissue, maintained ridge dimensions, and stable gingival margins around the implants were observed.

    Implications:

    • The bone ring technique offers a potentially efficient method for sinus augmentation and immediate implant placement in the posterior maxilla.
    • This technique may reduce overall treatment time, surgical costs, and the duration of the rehabilitation period.
    • The findings suggest the bone ring technique can yield predictable long-term outcomes regarding implant stability and soft tissue health.
