Summary

Moderate to severe postsurgical pain lasting over 72 hours is linked to poor osseointegration in dental implants. Early radiographic detection of osseointegration failure proved unreliable in this study.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the relationship between postsurgical pain and osseointegration in patients with dental implant failure.
  • To analyze various factors including bone density, surgical approach, and initial stability in relation to osseointegration outcomes.

Main Methods:

  • Retrospective analysis of 27 patients (35-72 years old) with failed osseointegration.
  • Assessment of bone density (D1-D4), initial torque, surgical type (one-stage vs. two-stage), postsurgical pain, swelling, and radiographic evidence.
