Abstract:
The os peroneum is an accessory bone found in approximately 10% of the population. It is located in the distal portion of the peroneus longus tendon adjacent to, or plantar to, the cuboid. The bone can become symptomatic when multipartite or fractured. If conservative measures fail, surgical excision of the ossicle is performed and provides symptomatic relief. A case of symptomatic os peroneum treated surgically is presented, with illustrations of the surgical technique.
