Summary

Knowledge translation campaigns improved palliative radiotherapy use initially, but benefits faded over time. Reinforcement is needed to sustain changes in single fraction radiotherapy (SFRT) utilization for bone metastases.

  • Knowledge translation (KT) campaigns can improve radiotherapy utilization.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To assess the long-term impact of a KT campaign on SFRT utilization for palliative bone metastases.
  • To identify factors influencing the sustained use of SFRT post-campaign.
  • To evaluate time-dependent effects on radiotherapy prescription habits.

Main Methods:

  • Retrospective analysis of provincial radiotherapy database for patients with bone metastases in Manitoba.
  • Comparison of SFRT utilization rates between 2017 and 2018.
  • Logistic regression to identify risk factors for MFRT receipt.
