    Summary

    Immunoglobulin A rheumatoid factor (IgA RF) is linked to bone erosions in rheumatic diseases, unlike other RF types. IgA RF levels in serum and synovial fluid closely correlate, suggesting its role in disease.

    Background:

    • Rheumatoid factor (RF) is a key biomarker in rheumatic diseases.
    • Different RF isotypes (IgG, IgA, IgM) may have distinct roles in disease activity and progression.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the association between total RF activity and individual RF isotypes with bone erosions in patients with rheumatic diseases.
    • To explore the correlation of RF isotype levels between serum and synovial fluid.

    Main Methods:

    • Measurement of total RF activity and individual RF isotypes in 62 patients with rheumatic diseases.
    • Retrospective analysis of hand X-rays to assess periarticular bone erosions.
