Nurses' Legal Responsibilities III01:16

Nurses' Legal Responsibilities III

738
Nurse-to-nurse relationships are legally required to adhere to professional standards, ensuring a respectful and positive working environment. Professional conduct demands that nurses treat all colleagues respectfully and courteously, fostering a productive, supportive workplace. Nurses must actively eliminate bullying, discrimination, and harassment to maintain a safe and inclusive environment.
Cultivating a culture of collaboration and mutual respect among nurses transcends mere enhancement...

Obedience01:08

Obedience

33.0K
According to obedience research, we may harm others under the forceful pressures of an authority figure (Milgram, 1974). How about if the inappropriate orders were delivered with less force? The increasing interdependence between nurses and physicians compelled Hofling and his colleagues to explore nurses’ reactions to a potentially harmful medical request made by the perceived authority figure, the doctor (Hofling, Brotzman, Dalrymple, Graves, & Pierce, 1966). In this situation,...

The Professional Nurse01:22

The Professional Nurse

4.3K
Professional nurses are not limited to bedside care and are taking roles of greater responsibility. A nurse should have a knowledge-based practice, including personal, theoretical, procedural, cultural, and reflexive knowledge. Additionally, nurses must be competent in cognitive, technical, interpersonal, and ethical/legal skills. Some of the best attributes of successful nurses include the following:
Communication skills: These are critical characteristics, especially speaking and listening.

Current Trends in Nursing II

Trends in nursing are multifactorial and associated with changes in society, within the nursing profession, and in other professions. Notably, telehealth and remote nursing contribute to successful healthcare delivery for numerous patients and help reduce stress for nurses due to nursing shortages. Nurses can reach patients, monitor their conditions, and interact with them using computers, audio, visual accessories, and telephones—for example, remote patient monitoring systems. Likewise,...

Nursing Evaluation01:15

Nursing Evaluation

3.5K
The evaluation stage signals the end of the nursing process. The nurse gathers evaluative data to assess whether or not the patient has attained the expected results. Whereas the nurse collects data in the nursing assessment to identify the patient's health concerns, the evaluation stage data determines if the indicated health issues are resolved. Evaluative data collection includes two sections: the data acquired to evaluate patient outcomes and the time criteria for data collection.

  • Nursing Research
  • Healthcare Workforce Studies
  • Male Nursing

Background:

  • Male nurse proportion is increasing globally.
  • Understanding male nurse job performance is crucial for healthcare quality.
  • Limited data exists on male nurse performance in China.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To assess the job performance of male nurses in China.
  • To identify factors influencing male nurse job performance.

Main Methods:

  • Cross-sectional study in 30 tertiary hospitals in Hunan Province.
  • Survey administered to 647 male nurses using Schwirian's Six Dimension Scale.
  • Descriptive and regression analyses performed on collected data.

Main Results:

  • 599 valid questionnaires were analyzed; median age 26, median nursing experience 4 years.
  • Male nurses concentrated in intensive care units, operating rooms, and emergency departments.
  • Years of service, marital status, education, department, reasons for choosing nursing, and family attitude significantly impacted job performance.

Conclusions:
