    Area of Science:

    • Cardiology
    • Congenital Heart Disease
    • Cardiac Surgery

    Background:

    • Left ventricular outflow tract obstruction (LVOTO) is a critical condition.
    • Accessory mitral valve tissue is an exceptionally rare cause of LVOTO.

    Observation:

    • Two new cases of LVOTO caused by accessory mitral valve tissue are presented.
    • A review of the existing literature on this anomaly was conducted.

    Findings:

    • Accessory mitral valve tissue is a previously underreported cause of LVOTO.
    • Only five cases had been previously documented in medical literature.

    Implications:

    • Increased awareness of this rare anomaly is needed for timely diagnosis.
    • Prompt diagnosis and surgical recognition facilitate effective treatment.
