Elastofibroma dorsi, a rare soft tissue mass, typically appears between the shoulder blade and chest wall. Imaging and biopsy help differentiate it from sarcoma before surgical removal.

Background:

Elastofibroma dorsi is a benign, slow-growing connective tissue proliferation.
It commonly presents as a fixed, palpable mass in the subscapular region.

Observation:

Two cases of elastofibroma dorsi are presented, both with subscapular masses.
Computed tomography revealed elongated, poorly defined soft tissue masses deep to the inferior scapular angle.

Findings:

The masses elevated adjacent latissimus dorsi muscle and fat.
Incisional biopsy ruled out malignancy (sarcoma).
Both masses were successfully treated with local excision.

Implications:

Accurate diagnosis of elastofibroma dorsi is crucial to avoid unnecessary radical surgery.
