Abstract:
The most common nutritional deficiency in America, and increasingly, throughout the world, is the malnourished microbiome. The purpose of this article is: (1) to present and discuss cutting-edge concepts and new understandings in the field of microbiome science, such as postbiotic metabolites, the controversy between quantity and diversity, and the types of foods that support the growth and proliferation of probiotic bacteria and (2) to present data that supports the claim that the malnourished microbiome is the #1 nutritional deficiency in America.
