The formation of teeth, also known as odontogenesis, is a complex process that begins in utero, around the sixth week of embryonic development. There are three stages to this process: the bud stage, the cap stage, and the bell stage.

Summary

Accurate dental age estimation for legal and clinical purposes is crucial. This study found that using mandibular wisdom teeth (38 and 48) with Demirjian staging offers more precise age prediction than other methods.

Purpose of the Study:

Main Methods:

  • 385 orthopantomograms of male patients aged 11-22 years were analyzed.
  • Demirjian staging (A-H) was applied to all present wisdom teeth (18, 28, 38, 48).
  • Regression analysis was used to correlate tooth mineralization with chronological age.
