Early diagnosis of brain tumors

Early diagnosis is essential to successful treatment of a brain tumor. Early general signs, such as headache, seizures and psychologic changes, are followed by specific localizing signs that can be elicited by meticulous neurologic examination. A computed tomographic scan should be obtained long before signs of increased intracranial pressure appear. New modes of treatment have increased both the length and the quality of survival.
