This study optimized double in situ hybridization in zebrafish embryos by testing additives and stain pairings. The nitro-blue tetrazolium chloride/5-bromo-4-chloro-3-indolyl phosphate (BCIP) + Fast Red/BCIP combination proved most effective for gene expression analysis.
