Area of Science:

  • Neurosurgery
  • Neurology

Background:

  • Migraine treatment is evolving, with surgical interventions being a recent development.
  • This study focuses on the surgical management of migraine.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To describe surgical techniques for migraine.
  • To report an 11-year experience with migraine surgery.

Main Methods:

  • Performed 527 migraine decompression surgeries between June 2011 and December 2021.
  • Targeted frontal, occipital, and temporal migraine trigger sites.

Main Results:

  • High positive response rates: 95% for occipital, 87% for frontal, and 88% for temporal sites.
  • Complete recovery rates varied: 86% (occipital), 32% (frontal), and 50% (temporal).
